Donate to the OAH

The Organization of American Historians is pleased to promote the scholarship, teaching, and presentation of American History. We are able to continue our mission thanks in great part to the generous support of our donors. Our dues and conference fees are kept low to encourage all those who study American history to join us. Therefore, we rely on the philanthropic support of our members to enhance our offerings, and your assistance is essential to our efforts to grow and improve.

We ask that you consider making a donation to the OAH so that we can plan for the future and ensure that the OAH remains the leading organization for American historians. We greatly appreciate your support!

The OAH provides multiple levels of donor recognition as well as the option to designate your gift to support any of our funds and initiatives. All contributors are recognized on the OAH website and in the OAH Annual Report. Major donors are also recognized at the Annual Meeting Distinguished Members Reception, and donors making a donation of $500 or more are listed annually in the Journal of American History.

Make a Donation to the Earl Lewis Challenge Campaign

At the end of his presidential address at the 2019 OAH Annual Meeting, Professor Earl Lewis announced a generous donation of $50,000 to build the OAH general reserve fund. He also issued a challenge that if members of the OAH can raise $500,000 in the next five years, he will donate another $50,000.

Our reserve fund provides the OAH with a financial safety net, allowing us to continue promoting excellence in the scholarship, teaching, and presentation of American history regardless of the current economic climate. Income generated by the fund helps support our everyday operating expenses and helps the OAH continue to provide U.S. historians with the resources necessary for fostering a better understanding of our nation’s history.

In response to Earl Lewis’ challenge, we encourage you--as a member of the OAH--to make a donation.
